======================================================================
WINPMESS cannot be used with versions of WINPACK older than Version
6.42.

WINPMESS is a program to allow you to write messages to be sent by
script file forwarding in Winpack. Winpack allowes script files to be
run from certain selected key strokes.

WINPMESS also has a SCRIPT WIZARD to help you make up the scripts
required for this forwarding.

The SCRIPT WIZARD is only a guide. The script files must be checked
and edited by you before use.

You should have the following
    WINPMESS.TXT This file.
    WINPMESS.EXE The main program
    WINPMESS.XTR The "Extra's" file.
WINPMESS.BUT The .BUT file required for my extra button bar.
    WINPMESS.ICO The ICON file.
CMDIALOG.VBX An extesion file required to run the program.
COMMDLG.DLL A DLL required to run the program.

that you can find for reference.

Put WINPMESS.EXE in the WINPACK directory or whichever directory you

if you are NOT using BUTTONS.

If you are using BUTTONS then put WINPMESS.BUT in the WINPACK\BUTTONS
directory.

Put WINPMESS.ICO in your WINPACK\ICONS directory.

Put CMDIALOG.VBX in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory but CHECK FIRST.
If you have a newer version of CMDIALOG.VBX then DO NOT overwrite it
with this version.

Put COMMDLG.DLL in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory but CHECK FIRST. If
you have a newer version of COMMDLG.DLL then DO NOT overwrite it with

callsigns in this box. They can be entered by clicking on the
"ADD/REMOVE CALL" pull down menu.

Another screen will open and the cursor will be waiting for you to
enter a call. Enter the call you want to list and click the "SAVE
CALL" button. The call will be entered into the lower list. You will
be prompted to make sure you want to enter the call in the list.

To remove a call from the list simply point and click it so it appears
in the upper box, then click "REMOVE CALL". You will be prompted to
make sure you want to remove the call.

If you now exit the ADD?REMOVE CALL screen and click the little arrow

-----------------
Click a call in the "SELECT CALL" box and a message name in the
correct format will be allocated as soon as you press the ENTER key.

he cursor will then be in the "ENTER MESSAGE SUBJECT" box. You may
enter a subject up to 35 characters long. Press the ENTER key again
and the cursor will move to the main text screen.

At this point you can do a number of things. You can simply type in
the message you want to send, or you can:-

PASTE/QUOTE
-----------
If you have previously highlighted and copied text from another
message you can PASTE/QUOTE the copied text into the main text window
by clicking on the PASTE/QUOTE pull down menu.

This will have the effect of QUOTING the text in the normal
packet/internet way with a '>' at the start of each line to show that
has been quoted from another message and 'You Wrote:-' entered at the
beginning of the quoted text. You can edit any of this as you wish.

PASTE
-----
Or you can PASTE previously highlighted and copied text without the
QUOTES by using the PASTE pull down menu.

PASTE FROM
----------
Or you can PASTE a document in from anywhere on your computer by using
the PASTE FROM pull down menu and navigate to the document you want in
standard windows format by pointing and clicking in the dialog box
that will appear.

ADD SIG FILE
------------
At the end of your message you can click the ADD SIG FILE button and
you will be shown a small screen that will list all your .SIG files as
used in Winpack. You can simply point and click the .SIG file you
want and it will be put into your text. All standard TOKENS are dealt
with in the same way as Winpack deals with them.

SAVE MESSAGE
------------
When you have completed your message you must click the SAVE MESSAGE
button. This will save your message in the file name given under the
'MESSAGE NAME WILL BE' label.

Your message is now ready to be sent using a script file.

EDIT A MESSAGE
--------------
If you wish to edit a message that you have writen but not sent then
click the 'EDIT A MESSAGE' button. A small screen will appear with a
list of messages that you have not sent. Click the one you want and
it will be entered into the main text screen.

After you have edited your message click 'SAVE MESSAGE' agin to save
your edited message.

DELETE A MESSAGE
----------------
If you wish to DELETE A MESSAGE that you have previously saved but not
sent then click the DELETE A MESSAGE button. A small screen will
appear with a list of messages that you have not sent. Click the
message you want to delete. You will be prompted to make sure that
you want to delete this message. If you say yes then it will be
deleted.

TEXT SIZE
---------
Along the bottom of the screen there will be a number of buttons
marked '8 POINT TEXT' etc. These change the text size in the main
text window. If these buttons cannot be seen then you do not have the
WINPACK font available.

SCRIPT WIZARD
-------------
WINPMESS is designed to work with WINPACK versions from V6.42 onward.
In V6.42 onward there is a method of sending messages to the PMS on
other stations using script files. These can be run by key strokes
(i.e F keys or ALT F keys). They can also be run as timed scripts.

The script Wizard helps you write a script for this job. It askes a
number of questions then ends up by showing you the script that has
been produced.

BE CAREFULL......The script Wizard is only a guide. It may not work
as you intend so be ready to alter the script after test.

The scripts are simple text files that can be edited in Winpack.
