======================================================================
WINP7 is a program to allow you to organise and manipulate 7 plus
files that you download from a BBS or that are sent to you.

Winpack decodes 7 plus files when all parts are received and the old
parts are then archived (if you have KEEP 7 PLUS set under options)
and the decoded files moved to another directory. This program makes
getting at those parts and dealing with them easier.

You should have the following
    WINP7.TXT This file.
    WINP7.EXE The main program
WINP7.XTR The "Extra's" file for Winpack V6.4 or above.
WINP7.BUT The .BUT file for people using my BUTTONS floating
                 button bar.
WINP7.ICO The ICON file for winpack V6.4 or above.
GRID.VBX The file that handles the grid lists.
    MSAFINX.DLL Handles variouse date manipulation.
----------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
============

Put the WINP7.TXT file anywhere you wish. Best not to throw it away
as you might want to read it again.

Put WINP7.EXE in the WINPACK directory or whichever directory you
use as the WINPACK root directory.

Put WINP7.XTR in the WINPACK root directory along with WINP7.EXE.

The WINP7.XTR file is only required if you are using WINPACK V6.4
or above.

Put WINP7.ICO in your WINPACK\ICONS directory. Again, this is only
required if you are using WINPACK V6.4 or above.

Put GRID.VBX in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory but CHECK FIRST. If you
have a newer version of GRID.VBX then DO NOT overwrite it with this
version.

Put MSAFINX.DLL into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If you have a newer
version then leave the newer version in the system directory.

If you are using my floating button bar(BUTTONS) use WINP7.BUT as per
the instructions that you acquired with BUTTONS.

Now re-boot WINPACK.

That's it!

If you are using V6.4 or above you should now have a new icon on the
button bar. This will start WINP7.

If you are using a version of WINPACK older than V6.4 then you will
need to make a short cut to WINPACK\WINP7.EXE from your desktop or
a folder.

OPERATION
=========
On the opening screen you will see five buttons. This screen is
sizable and will return to a position and size that you set when it is
next run.

The four buttons are:
                        "Organise 7PLUSOLD Directory"
                        "Organise 7DECODE Directory"
                        "Organise 7EXTRACT Directory"
                        "Organise Archive SENT 7+ Mail"
                        "Scan Received Mail For 7+"
                        "Exit"

---------------------------------------------------------------------
ORGANISE 7PLUSOLD Directory:

Old 7 Plus files are 7 plus parts that have been used and are
archived. These parts will only be archived if you have KEEP 7PLUS
PARTS set under the OPTIONS\7PLUS SETUP pull down menu. If you do not
then this part of the program is no use to you.

On the left of the screen you will see a list of current OLD 7 PLUS
FILES that are available.

You can DELETE, RENAME, MOVE or COPY files.

You can select multiple files by holding down the left mouse button
and dragging the highlight over all the files you want to manipulate
for DELETE, MOVE or COPY.

For RENAME you can only highlight one file at a time.

When you click the MOVE or COPY button you will be shown a DRIVE and
DIRECTORY box. By using these you can select where you want the
selected files to be moved to or copied to.

When you have selected the correct location then click the small MOVE
or COPY button that has appeared.

If you select a file and then click the RENAME button you will be
presented with a small screen that allows you to edit the name.

DOUBLE CLICKING a file in the file list will show that file in another
screen as a text file. This is to allow you to inspect the contents
of a file should you need to. You cannot edit the file from here, it
is simply a method of examination.

If the file is a .ICO, .WMF a .BMP file you will see the graphic image
but beyond that it is a simple text viewer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
ORGANISE 7DECODE Directory:

The DECODED files are the result of all 7 plus parts being received
and Winpack re-producing the original piece of software or picture
etc. These files are what 7 plus is all about and are the result of a
completed operation.

This screen looks almost the same as the 'ORGANISE 7PLUSOLD Directory'
button and operates in a similar manner.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
ORGANISE 7EXTRACT Directory:

These are the 7+ parts that have been downloaded from the BBS but are
not yet all present. They are waiting for completion. Until all the
parts are present Winpack cannot use them to produce a decoded file.

Quite often you can download 7 plus parts but not all the parts arrive
at the BBS. This results in parts hanging around awaiting completion.

This screen is different from the other two. On the left you will see
a list of current 7 plus parts as before, and double clicking one will
display it to you as in the other screens.

In the centre of this screen you will see a grid with three columns.
These columns contain the name of the file, the date it was scanned,
and an 'X' if the scan date is older than a number of days set by you
in the SET TIME LIMIT pull down menu which you will find at the top of
this screen. The default is 10 days but you can change this at any
time.

The contents of the grid and it's dates are as it was LAST TIME IT WAS
SCANNED, and the date is the date of first scan.

The program scans the files when you close the WAITING 7 PLUS FILES
screen down, or when you click the RE-SCAN CURRENT FILE LIST button at
the foot of this page.

The idea is that you set the number of days that you want to keep a 7
plus file before you consider it not worth waiting any longer for the
other parts. When the files have passed this age the 'X' will
appear. You can then click the DELETE 'X' button and all those files
will be deleted.

You can still DELETE, RENAME, MOVE and COPY the files as before but
only one at a time on this screen.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Qrganise Archive SENT 7+ Mail:

When you write a message, or send a 7+ file to another amateur by
using the normal BBS forwarding method in Winpack a copy of these
messages are kept under the ARCHIVE\SEND directory. They are listed
under the call sign to which they where sent or the topic if they
where bulletins. So, mail sent to me would be in the
ARCHIVE\SEND\G0OPC directory.

Mail in these directories can be dealt with using my WINPMAIL add-on
program but WINP7 specialises in dealing with the 7+ messages that you
have sent.

If you have sent out a lot of 7+ then there can be many of these
archived 7+ messages.

Clicking the ORGANISE ARCHIVE SENT 7+ MAIL button will open a screen
that shows two lists and four buttons.

The left hand list will have a list of the ARCHIVE\SEND sub
directories within which you have mail that you have previously sent
out. As stated above, each directory will be called by the call sign
of the person to whom you have sent mail or by the topic to which you
have sent bulletins (i.e WINPAC).

If you point and click one of these directories then any 7+ files that
are contained in that directory will be listed in the right hand list.

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY 7+ files will be listed in the right hand list, NO
OTHER ARCHIVED MAIL FILES. If you want to see non 7+ archived mail
then please use WINPMAIL.

If, after clicking a directory in the left hand list nothing appears
in the right hand list then there ARE NO 7+ MESSAGES in that archive.

You can view the any 7+ archived messages by double clicking them in
the right hand list.

Either single or multiple files can be selected in the right hand list
and these can be DELETED, MOVED or COPIED by clicking the appropriate
button on the right of the screen.

Actions after clicking the buttons are as with other screens in the
program.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Scan Received Mail For 7+:

Clicking this button will open a screen that will show a list on the
left hand side. That list contains all the 7+ files that are in your
MAIL\RECEIVE directory. This is mail that has been received by you in
Winpack but you have not deleted via the Winpack READ MAIL screen
(Little envelope button).

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY the 7+ mail will be listed.

You can DELETE, COPY or MOVE these files as you wish.
