CW Viewer For WinPack
---------------------
This file was sent out on the UK packet network as a WinPack viewer for
files containing ASCII Morse code, it was preceded with a somewhat
tongue-in-cheek bulletin which explained its use. It is left to the
individual to decide how serious this was - given the date on which it
was sent... If you are downloading this off the internet, a copy of the
bulletin, APRIL.TXT, is enclosed in this ZIP.

Other than using it as a CW viewer, the program might usefully be
employed as a simple Morse code trainer - the ability to load and save
files and to change the speed was put in with that purpose in mind.

Installation
------------
Put CWVIEWER.EXE and CWVIEWER.XTR in the main WINPACK directory. If you
are using WinPack V6.1 or later, a "CW Viewer" option will appear on the
WinPack "File" menu. If you want to install it as a viewer for CW files
(you may have trouble finding any!) you should use the "Viewers Editor"
on the WinPack "File" menu, make a new viewer for file type "CW" and
Browse your way to CWVIEWER.EXE. Don't forget to click "Yes" to put it
into the viewers list.

If you haven't got WinPack, you can still use the program and run it
from Program Manager or File Manager like any other program. However, it
needs two Visual BASIC support files which are distributed with WinPack,
they are VBRUN300.DLL and CMDIALOG.VBX - these files are also
distributed with many other applications and you may well have them on
your system. If you haven't, they are too big to 7plus via packet, so
please don't ask!

In Use
------
Play around with the menu options - it's all pretty obvious! "Play"
plays the Morse in the top window on the *PC speaker*. If it doesn't
work, make sure that your PC speaker is actually functioning - a lot of
new PCs have speakers that don't work. A common fault is that the
speaker output on the motherboard is incorrectly connected to the sound
card. It works fine for me on:-

P133 with Triton chipset and Win95
DX2/66 with Win31
DX2/66 with Win95
DX4/100 notebook with Win95
