TinyTrak

TinyTrak is a small, inexpensive GPS position encoder, meant to remove the need for a full TNC. It can be built for about $5 in parts, and a PCB should soon be available from FAR Circuits. A GPS is connected to the Serial In line, and packet audio and PTT can be connected to a radio. If TinyTrak is well received, a Manchester encoding version will also be created. A 9600 baud version is also a possibility.

* Optional components. R8 only needed for HT-type PTT output. Q2, C3, C4 only required if not providing 5V input. C2, R9 only required if using audio carrier detect input. All LEDs and coresponding resistors optional. SW1 switch transmit rate, SW2 currently not used.
Comments are welcome concerning the use and need of the optional components.

Configuration
TinyTrak is configured by connecting to a computer's serial port, and running a simple configuration tool. This tool allows setting of all user options.

TinyTrak is currently still in development. However, I am looking for beta testers. If you enjoy building, have the ability to program a PIC 16F84 microcontroller, and are willing to give me feedback, please let me know, and I will get you the information you need to start building. Questions and comments can be sent to tinytrak@byonics.com
