BPQMH.EXE V1.4 - August 1997
----------------------------
(There is some useful and interesting information in this file, please
try and read it all!)

BPQMH.EXE is a WinPack add-on which will give you a continuous display
of the BPQ MH list for each port on your system. It lets you see what
your system is hearing without connecting to the switch and using the
BPQ "MH" command. It may only work with WinPack V6.1 or later - this is
because it uses a function in IDEBPQ.DLL which was changed between V5.53
and V6.1 and also between V6.1 and V6.2. All my testing has been with
V6.2.

To use BPQMH you MUST have WinPack installed and you MUST be using it
with BPQ.

Installation
------------
Put BPQMH.EXE and BPQMH.XTR in your main WINPACK directory. "BPQ MH
List" will appear as an option on the WinPack File menu the next time
you restart WinPack.

In Use
------
When you start BPQMH, it will display the BPQ MH list for each port on
your system, with the name of the port above the list. (It's slightly
more impressive if you have got more than one port!) It updates the
lists at the rate of *one update* per second. So the list for each port
is update every n seconds, where n is the number of ports on your
system.

If you scroll a list, the text will turn red and that list will be
locked, so it isn't updated whilst you are scrolling it. It can be
unlocked by pressing <Esc> with the focus on that list, or it will
automatically unlock after 10 seconds.

You can remove ports from the display by putting the focus on the port
(if the focus is on a port, the text cursor will be in that list) and
pressing Delete or Backspace. However, you must always have one port in
the display. You can't put back individual ports, but you can return to
showing all ports by pressing Ctrl+R.

You can make BPQMH always stay on top of other applications by checking
"Always On Top" on the System menu. (The System menu is the menu which
drops down when you click the top left-hand corner of a window, "Always
On Top" is an extra option added to the BPQMH System menu).

Quick Connects
-------------
If you put the cursor on a callsign in one of the lists and press
<Return>, or double click on a callsign, BPQMH will tell WinPack to
connect to that station. If WinPack is already connected, you will get
an error message from BPQMH. You have to use this feature sensibly - if
you click on a second station whilst WinPack is trying to connect to the
first one you clicked, then the second connect request might be sent to
the first station when the connection is established.

BPQMH.XTR
---------
The default for line three is "False", this means that BPQMH won't be
automatically started when WinPack is started. If you want it to be
automatically started, change this line to "True".

The default for line four is "True", this means that BPQMH will be
closed down when WinPack is closed down. If you don't want it to be
automatically closed down, change this line to "False".

Using The BPQ Terminal For Quick Connects (Advanced)
----------------------------------------------------
If you run BPQMH with a command line argument of WINPBPQ, then, instead
of making Quick Connects by using WinPack, it will instead use the BPQ
Terminal. Also, if a Terminal is not running, then it will start one up
and use it to make the connect. This may not work too well on slow PCs!

If you want to try using the Terminal, edit BPQMH.XTR and change the
second line to:-

$WINP_PATH\BPQMH.EXE WINPBPQ

then restart WinPack and run "BPQ MH List" from the File menu.
Alternatively you can set up an icon for BPQMH in the WinPack program
group with WINPBPQ added to the command line.

History
-------
V1.0, 25 Jun 1997 - First public release.

V1.1, 25 Jun 1997 - Quick Connects added.

V1.2, 26 Jun 1997 - Nulls and EOF characters removed from MH list text,
they could stop the list displaying correctly.
Test for whether BPQ Terminal was already running
                    improved.
Code streamlined so it uses significantly less
                    processor time.

V1.3, 27 Jun 1997 - "Always On Top" option added.
The list windows automatically resize if the main
                    window is resized.

V1.4, 08 Aug 1997 - The position of the window and the setting of
"Always On Top" are remembered between program
                    sessions.
